yeah lor FH, oso those that came back from oversea, they "purposely" speak with an accent. (Their oversea accent can changed back to local accent, all depends on who they are speaking with) Note: its "purposely" huh..not becoz they have been living oversea for a long time and have acquired that accent.

FH, ure one hot babe! (wear bikini, 2 packs, DJ..) now I know y ur hubby so fast say yes to u when he 'proposed' :P

Ah ha ha... selfish people.. never looked at it that way before... I thought it just meant they were trying too hard to be humble but then again, they could be overprotective of their family recipes or other stuff..

Mommy to Chumsy said...

MUAHAHAHAHA.....you are hilarious! I so agree with your Point No. 1. Sometimes I wonder how they can twist their tongue and try to imitate the Americans. Even Americans don't speak like that :D Thanks for doing the tag..you are really fast.

earthember said...

Can still speak dialect, but mandarin kana sai! Sometimes, I really can't remember where I buy the stuff from. Make food, I don't follow recipe, so how to give recipes????

People don't study overseas come back, also cannot speak dialect or their mother tongue lah. It is a loss actually because our Chinese culture has more than 5,000 years of rich history.

You don't have ONE dress in your closet?

Dear KopiSoh,

Please don't feel insecure. You have a group of loyal fans who wait in line just to drink a cup of coffee. It doesn't matter if the coffee is latte, cappuccino or espresso. Your fans will enjoy the drink because their friend Kopi Soh made the drink and serve it to them personally. Continue to blog from your heart. What you have offered to your readers is your friendship and time and that means a lot. By the way, when I was sick you came by and offered barley water as remedy. I will never forget that. :)

yenjai.net said...

Haha. I like how you list the 'selfish' trait.

I got it from some friends even worst:

Me: Wow. That look nice. Where you bought it?
Friend: Err... one expensive shop in ... I don't think you go there.

ooh, bar waitress! give us some tips on handlng drinks?

Dr ve Thru said...

I like your kind of person....and I osso don't like the kind of person you were describing. :)
Lagi sama sama!

FireHorse said...

winniethepooh: Phew thank god, you still wanna fren me.

yenjai: Some more you call them fren ah, they probably dunno you a lokter ler. If they know then they won't dare to say something lidat.

lee ping: You are so nice, I try but sometimes the insecurity creeps in.

LM: What do you mean handling drinks? I dun touch/drink dat stuff at all wan ler. I can mix drinks for people but personally stay away from it myself. Is that what you meant by handling?

Judy: Muacks, muacks, sista.

You sound very much like me, except the work part. There is a guy I met. He went to overseas only 4 years and he came back and told us, he doesn't speak a word of Chinese. And he's been back here like the past 10 years? Wah lao.. beh tahan. *Piak Piak*

Fuyoh! You were a DJ? One very cool mama! That explains why you said you like hip-hop music in your profile. I'm like you for No. 6 - I don't own any dress and I haven't worn a skirt or dress since 2004! Okay, I'm only here in US for 2 years, but my English still like Singlish / Minglish! I have to admit, sometimes my neighbors don't really understand what I was speaking!

Firehorse said...

anigma: LOL back 10 yrs liao still dunno how to speak Chinese, ya go piak him for me oso.

binky: Yea the longer you stay here, the more you pick up, also our pronunciation is based on British education and American pronounciation a bit different.
